BIOS adalah Basic Input Output System yang memiliki pengertian sebagai software yang di tulis dalam bahasa pemrograman assembly. Fungsi utama dari bios adalah sebagai penghubung antara perangkat keras ( Hardware ) dengan perangkat lunak ( Software ).
Apabila anda ingin merubah urutan booting pada laptop compaq anda harus masuk ke sistem bios. Perlu di waspadai, anda harus berhati-hati dalam mengatur sistem bios. Kalau ada sistem yang nonaktif tanpa sengaja itu akan merubah setelan BIOS itu akan berdampak buruk bagi laptop anda.

- Tekan tombol power untuk menghidupkan laptop anda
- Sebelum logo windows keluar anda harus cepat menekan tombol ESC berkali-kali untuk masuk ke menu Start Up
- Kemudian anda tekan tombol F10 untuk masuk ke sistem BIOS
Untuk Keluar dari Sistem BIOS anda bisa menekan tombol ESC kemudian akan keluar kotak dialog yang berisi Discard Change yang berarti anda keluar tanpa merubah apapun. Tetapi jika anda merubah setelan BIOS untuk menyimpannya akan bisa menekan F10 untuk Save And Exit.
